The world's first atlas of urban nighttime light remote-sensing data was released on Wednesday by the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS).
The atlas was unveiled at the 3rd International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals, which opened in Beijing on Wednesday.
The atlas contains 10-meter resolution nighttime light data on 147 cities in 105 countries around the world. The data was captured by the Sustainable Development Science Satellite 1 (SDGSAT-1), which is the first of its kind dedicated to serving the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The atlas is an important achievement in the field of Earth surface environmental elements detection under low-light conditions, and is expected to provide support for the study on urban sustainable development through SDGSAT-1, which aims to depict traces of human activities using synergistic observations.
